Thu Trang was born in an artistic family. Her father is Nhat Tan, a famous cai luong playwright. Her mother is Minh Nguyet, a cai luong artist.
Thu Trang loved cai luong art when she was a child. She acted a little girl Teo in the play “Money and attachment” at the age of 6 and did a little girl Tho in the play “A Japanese girl” at the age of 9.
She trained in the Ha noi University of Theatre and Cinema (1994-1997). After graduating with an excellent certificate, she started to work in the Vietnam National Cai luong Theatre.

The gold medal in the Ha noi Lull Festival in 1992, the gold medals in the Ha noi Pupils’ Singing Competition in 1993 and 1995, the silver medal in the Nationwide Pupils and Students’Singing Competition in 1996, the first prize in the Nationwide Theatrical Young Talented Competition in 2003.
